The St. Louis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) is a partnership between IBEW local #1 and the St. Louis Chapter of NECA that recruits, selects and trains apprentice and journeyman electricians. They manage 3–5 year "earn-while-you-learn" programs combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction in commercial, industrial and residential electrical work.

Core Functions of the JATC:

•  Manages registered apprenticeship programs, ensuring apprentices work under qualified Journeymen while attending classes.

•  Uses the St. Louis JATC curriculum to teach electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC), safety, and emerging technologies like solar power, EVITP, and POE.

•  Selects apprentices, hires instructors, and assigns apprentices to signatory contractors for on-the-job experience.

•  Provides ongoing training for current journeymen to keep pace with new technologies and safety standards.

•  Prepares workers for industry certifications and often partners with community colleges to offer a pathway towards a college degree.

We currently have agreements in place with St. Louis Community College, Community College of Allegheny County, and Rowan University.
